Terminals B, C and E have duty-free facilities. On-site car hire is available from Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar and National. Enterprise and Thrifty are available nearby, but all of the car hire companies provide courtesy shuttle buses.

Transport to the city: There is an enormous range of transport options from Logan Airport. Taxis are available 24 hours from all terminals; rates are according to the meter within a 12-mile radius, beyond that there are flat rates. To Downtown costs around US$20 plus an airport fee of US$1.50 and Harbor Tunnel tolls of US$6.

The Airport Station is on the MBTA (tel: (617) 222 3200; website: www.mbta.com) Blue Line subway (US$1 single fare). Trains to Downtown run about every 10 minutes (journey time – 15 minutes). MBTA also operates regular bus services (US$0.75 single fare): routes 448, 459 and CT3 go to Downtown.

The Logan DART Shuttle goes from all airport terminals to Downtown’s Financial District, via the South Station Transportation Center. From South Station, an MBTA commuter rail service, three bus companies and Amtrak offer services further afield.

The Logan Express (tel: (800) 235 6416) bus service goes to the city suburbs of Framingham, Woburn and Braintree. There are many private bus lines that serve New England in general.

Various different private boat carriers also operate from the Logan dock. Services go to Downtown, Rowes Wharf at the Boston Harbor Hotel and to the South Shore at Quincy Shipyard. Boats run Monday-Friday 0600-2000 every 15 minutes, Saturday and Sunday 1000-2000 every 30 minutes. Prices start from US$10 (journey times – 7-25 minutes).

The Logan Shuttle courtesy bus connects (0400-0100) all terminals with the Airport Station, Satellite Parking areas and the Water Transportation Terminal. The airport’s free water transport bus 66 connects all terminals to the Logan dock.
