Walking Tours
Three-hour walking tours of the city centre are offered by Geospirit Tours (tel: (403) 815 1482; website: www.geospirittours.com) for C$20. Hotel pick-up can be arranged and sites include the Calgary Tower, Eau Claire Market and the Palliser Hotel. The tours operate all year round, utilising the plus-15 walkways when the temperatures drop. Customised itineraries can also be arranged, as can excursions beyond the city.

Bus Tours
Exclusive Mountain Tours (tel: (403) 282 3980; website: www.mountaintours.com) and Brewster Tours (tel: (403) 762 6700; website: www.brewster.ca) operate bus tours of the city centre. The former charge C$35 for 2 hours 30 minutes and the latter C$40 for a three-hour tour, with daily departures from specified local hotels. Brewster also run full-day excursions to Banff (C$94) and the Columbia Ice Fields (C$120).

Other Tours
Calgary’s unique location both at the foot of the Rocky Mountains and in the western prairie allow for a variety of nature and outdoor tours, a short distance from the city limits. Hammerhead Scenic Tours (tel: (403) 260 0940; fax: (403) 293 4598; website: www.hammerheadtours.com) specialises in one-day guided excursions to nearby Drumheller/Badlands (Tuesday-Sunday) and Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump (Monday only) from May to October. (See Excursions for destination information.) Both cost C$65 with pick-up and drop-off from all Calgary hotels. Lone Wolf Tours (tel: (403) 246 9586) provides group and individual mini-van tours costing C$65-89 in southern Alberta and the Canadian Rockies, taking in wildlife such as deer, elk and (occasionally) bears.
