There can be long distances between settlements of any size, especially in the Arctic zone. ‘Lodges’ designed for outdoor activity holidays can be found in many settlements. CAMPING/CARAVANNING: Campsites are generally open from late May to September and are run by both government and private organisations. Some outfitters have established ‘outposts’ (semi-permanent camps) with tents, beds and meals, usually offered as part of organised trips.
